UNESCO World Heritage Site Speicherstadt
Experience Hamburg’s Historic Warehouse District On A Guided Tour
Sunday, 17th August 2025 at 11.00 h (1.5 hours)
Since 2015, the Speicherstadt has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built between 1883 and 1927 as the central warehouse district of the Port of Hamburg, it symbolizes the city's rich trading history. Behind the impressive brick facades, coffee, tea, spices, nuts, dried fruits, rubber, tobacco, and other imported goods were stored. However, in the 1990s, storage here became uneconomical, and since the turn of the millennium, the warehouses have gradually been converted into office buildings.
The tour begins at the Speicherstadtmuseum, where we show how people used to work in the warehouses. Another key topic is the planning and construction of the Speicherstadt, which is illustrated by numerous historical photos and plans as well as an authentic model of a warehouse. During the outdoor tour, we then visit the most important buildings. - We are looking forward to your visit.
The meeting point is at the ticket office.
Tickets: 20 € p.p. (incl. admission to the museum)
